Eco-Restoration Camp – Bhoothathankettu
November 1, 2026
Forest Restoration · Invasive Species Management · Volunteer Action
Earthings Nature Foundation (ENF) proposes to organise a one-day eco-restoration camp at Bhoothathankettu, under Thundathil Range of the Malayattoor Forest Division, on 1 November 2026. This initiative aims to contribute to the conservation of forest ecosystems through the removal of invasive alien plant species, particularly Senna spectabilis (Manjakonna), and to support the natural regeneration of native vegetation.
Senna spectabilis is an invasive tree species that can spread extensively in forest landscapes, compete with native vegetation, and alter the natural structure of forest ecosystems. Its systematic management is an important part of ecological restoration in affected areas.
Camp Highlights
- 🌿 Remove invasive Senna spectabilis in designated areas identified by the Forest Department.
- 🌳 Support the natural regeneration of native plants and forest vegetation.
- 🐾 Contribute to the long-term ecological restoration of the Bhoothathankettu forest landscape.
- 🤝 Encourage volunteer participation in responsible, science-informed conservation activities.
- 🏞️ Strengthen collaboration between conservation volunteers and the Kerala Forest Department.
Limited to 30 participants. Registrations will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
