About ENF
Who We Are
ENF was founded on a single conviction: that ecological restoration requires physical presence in the forest. We work directly on invasive species removal, native regeneration, and habitat restoration inside protected areas — tiger reserves and wildlife sanctuaries — under Kerala Forest Department supervision.

-
01
Our Mission
To restore degraded forest ecosystems in Kerala's protected areas through direct, hands-on intervention — removing invasive species, supporting native regeneration, and working in sustained partnership with the Kerala Forest Department.
-
02
Our Vision
Forests where native biodiversity thrives without the pressure of invasive species — and a model of community-led ecological restoration that can be replicated across India's protected landscapes.
Where We Work
-
Thekkady, Kerala
Periyar Tiger Reserve
One of India's most significant tiger reserves. ENF has conducted multiple restoration camps here, focusing on lantana and other invasive species in the buffer and core zones.
-
Palakkad, Kerala
Parambikulam Tiger Reserve
A biodiversity hotspot in the Western Ghats. ENF works here on invasive species removal and brushwood dam construction to support native forest regeneration.
-
Wayanad, Kerala
Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary
Part of the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve. ENF's restoration work in Wayanad targets invasive species that threaten the sanctuary's native plant communities and wildlife corridors.
Why Eco-Restoration Matters
Kerala's forests are under pressure from invasive plant species that outcompete native vegetation, reduce biodiversity and degrade wildlife habitats. Eco-restoration — the systematic removal of invasive species and support for native plant regeneration — is one of the most effective ways to reverse this damage and protect these ecosystems for future generations.

Restoration Camps Open to Volunteers
ENF's restoration camps are multi-day programmes conducted inside protected forest areas. Volunteers work directly on invasive species removal under Forest Department supervision. The work is physically demanding. The purpose is ecological restoration.
-

Working With the Kerala Forest Department
All ENF restoration activities are conducted in formal partnership with the Kerala Forest Department. Our camps operate under Forest Department supervision inside protected areas — tiger reserves and wildlife sanctuaries. This partnership is the foundation of everything we do.

The Forest Needs People Who Will Do the Work
ENF restoration camps are not nature walks. They are physically demanding, multi-day conservation work programmes. If you are prepared for that, we want to hear from you.
